University Outreach’s E-TEAM Wins National Award
The Educational Training, Evaluation, Assessment and Measurement (E‐TEAM) department within the University of Oklahoma Outreach, partnering with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS), won silver in the Excellence in Community Communications and Outreach (ECCO) Recognition Program Awards.
The ECCO program showcases outstanding social marketing efforts of grantees that build community‐based programs incorporating systems of care for children, youth, young adults, and their families. The program also provides an opportunity for grantees to learn from the social marketing efforts of their peers. ODMHSAS and E‐TEAM designed and developed an eLearning course that would allow training and technical assistance offered by ODMHSAS to be delivered online. This eLearning website offers new and relevant training materials to learners anywhere in the state.
“I am proud of our team and this acknowledgment of their excellent work,” said Dr. Belinda Biscoe, Director, and creator of E-Team and Interim Vice President for University Outreach. Under Biscoe’s leadership, E-TEAM has emerged as a highly competitive, proficient, technologically advanced research and evaluation unit serving innovative education and human service program development at local, state, and national levels.
“The entry was outstanding and serves as an inspiration to states, tribes, territories, and communities around the country who work to support the behavioral health needs of children, youth, and young adults through the system of care approach,” said Dr. Gary Blau, Chief of the Adolescent and Family Branch at the Center for Mental Health Services.
The ECCO Recognition Program is sponsored by SAMHSA’s (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) Caring for Every Child’s Mental Health Campaign of the Comprehensive Community Mental Health Services for Children and Their Families program.
