Peter Correia III, director of the OU Outreach National Resource Center for Youth Services (NRCYS), was recently celebrated by the OU Anne and Henry Zarrow School of Social Work as an honoree in the 2015 Social Work Hall of Fame. He is among seven individuals identified by the school Board of Visitors as having made significant contributions to the field of social work. Correia and other honorees were recognized at a ceremony in Norman on June 19.

Correia has more than 33 years of experience in providing child welfare and youth services training and technical assistance. For 29 years he has been with the NRCYS, serving as assistant director before becoming director in 2001. Throughout his career, Correia has developed, implemented and managed national training and technical assistance centers that provide service to state child welfare agencies and community based agencies. He specializes in program and policy issues that impact the successful transition of youth to adulthood. He currently serves as the national youth advisor on a U.S. Department of Human Services Children’s Bureau. He holds a master’s degree in social work from Boston University and was named a George Edmund Haynes Fellow by the National Urban League in New York.

For some 30 years, the National Resource Center for Youth Services has been improving the effectiveness of human services for youth and families through training and technical assistance to programs in Oklahoma and nationally.
