Professionalizing Youth Work Conference to be held in June

Human hands showing unityThe University of Oklahoma Outreach National Resource Center for Youth Services (NRCYS), along with state agencies and youth-serving organizations, is hosting the 10th Annual Professionalizing Youth Work in Oklahoma Conference. This one-day conference will be held on June 11 at the University of Oklahoma Tulsa Learning Center in Tulsa, Okla.

The conference will feature keynote speaker Ericka Petrelli, the vice president of leadership development for The Leadership Program, speaking on the importance of active engagement with youth. A wide variety of topics will be covered in the conference workshops including program promotion and development, engaging youth, mental health care, creating safe communities, and various methods and models designed to assist youth care workers best serve their clients. This conference provides an opportunity for all professionals in the child and youth care field to learn from each other’s diverse training and skills and ensure that children, youth, and families in Oklahoma receive quality services from qualified professionals.

Anyone involved in the field of youth and child care is invited to attend including but not limited to staff at day care centers, K-12 schools, after school programs, community-based youth development programs, shelters, juvenile court and justice programs, group homes, residential treatment, and mental health centers. There is no cost for this conference and five CEU’s are available for direct care staffs who attend the full day. Space is limited and quick registration is strongly encouraged.
