Medieval Midwinter Ball to be Held in January

CaptureThe Medieval Fair Department within University of Oklahoma Outreach announces its second annual Medieval Midwinter Ball to be held January 10 in the Molly Shi Boren Ballroom of the Oklahoma Memorial Union 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. After last year’s overwhelming success and in preparation for the 2015 Medieval Fair, organizers say they are excited to make this an annual affair.

A “sumptuous” buffet will be provided by University Catering. The professional Elite Feet Dancers, led by University of Oklahoma graduate Jeremy Cauiness, will perform and help participants learn dances from the medieval and renaissance periods to Children of Lyr’s music, led by Bruce Cannon.

“Last year’s ball was the first of its kind and we reached capacity with more than 120 guests attended,” said Anne Marie Eckart, Medieval Fair Coordinator. “This year we are preparing for 200.”

Medieval and renaissance costumes of beggars, peasants, townspeople, nobles and other characters are encouraged but optional. Neither partner nor experience is needed.

Tickets are limited and sold for $40.

Co-sponsors with OU Outreach include the Norman Arts Council and Fowler Auto Group.
