OU Economic Development Institute to be Held in Indianapolis

The University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute (OU EDI) will be held at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis November 16-20.

OU EDI is an executive development certificate program that provides professional economic developers with up-to-date knowledge and tools necessary to succeed in today’s constantly changing economic development marketplace.

OU EDI is designed to immediately impact participants’ professional careers by providing comprehensive courses that align with International Economic Development Council requirements as well as the latest trends in economic development.

“The advantages of coming to this conference are the unique networking and mentoring opportunities, roundtable discussion and the completion of several courses in just one week,” said EDI’s academic adviser, Tamara Wagner Sutteer. “We always have great support from the community in Indianapolis, and we anticipate having up to 125 students from all over the country participate in these classes.”

OU EDI offers multiple concurrent course topics during the institute:

  • Monday—Tuesday: courses in marketing, finance, business retention and expansion and strategic planning
  • Wednesday—Thursday: entrepreneurship, real estate and managing economic development organizations
  • Sunday: orientation, ethics, elective courses and the first four hours of finance

Since its establishment in 1962, OU EDI has been the primary professional training program for those in the business of economic development.

To achieve the proper educational experience and instructional insight for participants, OU EDI draws its instructors from the ranks of today’s leading economic development practitioners and educators.

Registration and payment must be received before October 10 for an early bird rate. Registration for the 2014 Indy Institute ends on October 31.
