Aii to Host 2014 Indian Education Summit
The American Indian Institute (Aii) will host the 2014 Indian Education Summit, September 9-11, at the National Center for Employee Development (NCED) Conference Center and Hotel in Norman, Oklahoma. This summit is hosted in conjunction with the Oklahoma State Department of Education, the University of Oklahoma Outreach, and the South Central Comprehensive Center at the University of Oklahoma.
This event will address a variety of culturally-relevant educational issues in the Native American community. The conference strands for this year are Oklahoma academic standards, culture and language, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) and tribal services. PK-12 educators, administrators, counselors, Indian education directors, tribal service providers and members of the higher education community are all encouraged to attend.
Registration is $250 for the full 3-day event and is currently open. The registration fee includes all conference materials and meals. Two pre-conference institutes are also available at no charge to paid conference attendees: the American Indian Student AP Summit and the Weather and Climate Action Tour.
In addition, Aii is still accepting proposals through August 29 for the 17th Native Diabetes Prevention Conference. This event will be held in Mesa, Ariz., January 25-28, 2015. For more information on all conferences, and to register for each, visit www.aii.ou.edu.
